Independence’s Collin Patton wins Valley Division MVP


MIDDLEFIELD—Independence’s Collin Patton finished first in the 2018 Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division cross country championships at Cardinal High School on Saturday.

With his finish, Patton earned the Valley Divison’s MVP award.

Patton finished the race in 17:44. Berkshire’s Josiah Cheung was second with a time of 18:06.

P.J. Oschmann earned first team All-CVC honors after finishing fifth in 18:18.

Makenna McGhee, Emily Skoczen, Erica Esper and Sonia Sajovie all earned first team all-conference honors by finishing among the top eight in the girls’ race.

McGhee finished fourth in 20:27 while Skoczen was fifth in 20:54. Esper and Sajovie finished seventh and eighth in 21:30 and 21:32, respectively.

Gabby McGreevy was named second team all-conference after her 14th place finish in 22:29.
