Each athlete was nominated by his or her coach and selected based on their performances during the week ending Sunday, Jan. 7.

Amanda ApanaviciusName: Amanda Apanavicius
School: Riverside
Grade: 12
Sport: Basketball
Stats: Scored 18 points with seven rebounds and three blocked shots in a win over Chardon
Coach’s Quote: “Without her play on both ends of the floor, getting a win at Chardon probably wouldn’t have happened,” said Riverside coach Joel Wolf. “It was clearly a team win led by Amanda.”
Notable: Apanavicius will continue her education and playing career at Edinboro University.
Jameson CampbellName: Jameson Campbell
School: Riverside
Grade: 12
Sport: Basketball
Stats: Scored 23 points with four rebounds, three steals and six 3-pointers in a win over University School
Coach’s Quote: “Jameson started the game shooting the ball extremely well,” said Riverside coach Matt Grendel. “He carried the scoring load for us in the first half. It was good to see him shooting the ball with confidence and making some big shots for us. I look forward to seeing Jameson build off of this.”
Notable: Campbell played in the Ohio Varsity Underclassmen Showcase at Ursuline College last March.
Lexi HammerName: Lexi Hammer
School: NDCL
Grade: 12
Sport: Basketball
Stats: Scored 34 points (15-of-30) with 20 rebounds, nine assists, 14 steals and a blocked shot in two games including a triple-double in a win over Beaumont
Coach’s Quote: “Lexi was outstanding on both ends of the court,” said NDCL coach Joe Spicuzza. “She made pivotal plays during critical parts of both games.”
Notable: Hammer, who carries a 4.08 grade point average, interned this summer at the Cleveland Clinic, where she spent time working in Cardiovascular Radiology with Dr. William Kwon.
Cam ThomasName: Cam Thomas
School: Beachwood
Grade: 12
Sport: Basketball
Stats: Recorded 37 points, eight rebounds, six assists and seven steals in two wins
Coach’s Quote: “Cam has helped lead the Bison to a current 7-3 record and has stepped up as a senior leader by constantly bringing great effort and energy,” said Beachwood coach Jon Mannarino.
Notable: Thomas is averaging 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2.5 steals per game this season.
