Beachwood returns four starters from last season but the Bison remain a relatively young squad.
Due to COVID, the Bison played just five games last season.
“We played five games with our three of our major contributors, so we are just excited to have the whole band back together,” said Beachwood head coach Grant Wilson. “We are still relatively a young team but I believe we will grow quickly through in-game experience throughout the season. It will be a challenging season but I’m confident this group will compete and leave it all on the floor each game. We’re excited to see our growth as we gain experience through the season.”
While the Bison are short on actual game experience, Wilson is confident his team has the talent to compete in the Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division. His players are committed to working hard and sacrificing for their teammates.
“We want to put a competitive product on the floor every night,” Wilson said. “Our keys to success will be playing unselfish basketball. If we share the ball, we will have success.”
Leading the way for the Bison is returning starter Sarah Brown, a 6-foot center/forward. Beachwood’s other returning starters are junior Briahna Golubitsky, a 5-foot-6 guard, junior Audrey Harris, a 5-foot-8 guard, and junior Haya Shehadeh, a 5-foot-7 guard.
Senior Aaliyah Edwards, a 5-foot-11 forward, also is projected to start this season.
Beachwood’s depth will come from senior Lea Sokol, a 5-foot-4 guard, junior Taylor Blackwell, a 5-foot-7 guard, sophomore Veronica Schwartz, a 5-foot-10 forward, and freshmen Goldi Aschkensasy, Randall Brown, Ana Schlachter, and Molly Lewis.
Aschkenasy is a 6-foot forward/center, Brown is a 5-foot-7 forward, and Schlachter and Lewis are 5-foot-5 guards.
