The Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches’ Association announced its 2017 All-Ohio teams on Sunday. Independence’s Ryan MacRaild was named Division III Coach of the Year and Sam Belitz was named to the first team. Kirtland’s Hannah Vouk also earned first-team honors.

Independence defeated visiting Beachwood, 4-1, in a Division III district semifinal on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will play in their third straight district championship game on Saturday.

Independence’s run at the state record for consecutive shutouts in a single season came to an end in the Blue Devils’ 6-1 win over Beachwood on Tuesday, but the team claimed its third straight league title.

Independence scored two quick goals then added two more late in the first half to pull away from visiting Beachwood, 7-1.

Sam Belitz scored a hat trick and Adam Leibel added a goal to lead Independence to a 4-2 win over league rival Beachwood on Tuesday.
