Eagles look to build on past success

Geneva returns six starters and 11 letter winners from last year’s squad that finished 8-5-4 overall and reached the sectional championship game. The Eagles hope that experience leads to even greater fortunes in 2018.

“Our team has the potential to build on some of the success that we had in 2017,” said sixth-year coach Jeff Hull. “In order to have a successful season, we will need to stay healthy and work towards bringing a high level of focus to training every day.”

Leading the way for the Eagles is senior forward Dawson Schafer, who returns as the team’s leading scorer with nine goals and five assists last fall. Senior midfielder Alex Lechintan contributed with four goals and two assists and senior forward Grant Mihalick pitched in with two goals and two assists.

Rounding out the projected starting lineup are seniors Luis Rivera (1-0), Kalub Kersey (1-1), Isaac Gerger (1-0) and Bobby Horvath (0-1); and juniors Dan Jackam, John Jackam and Daniel Wilms.

Junior Joe Carley returns in goal after allowing just 1.35 goals in 17 games.
