IAN TENKKU
Q: What are your goals this season?
A: Individually, I need to finish around the basket more often and play better defense. Team-wise, everyone wants to make the state tournament. We just need to communicate and play as a team.
Q: What does it mean to play “Mentor basketball”?
A: It means fast-paced, constant movement all around. We need to get back to that consistently and we will be all set.
Q: What is your most memorable moment as a Cardinal?
A: We went to Tennessee for the Arby’s Classic when I was a junior and I felt like I connected with all the guys and it was great because I wasn’t at Mentor for every year in high school. It just made me feel more comfortable around all the guys.
Q: What Cardinal did you enjoy watching play or base your game after?
A: I enjoy watching Joey Zaugg play the game. He plays hard, he is a great captain and a teammate. He has your back.
Q: What is something that people don’t know about you?
A: I started out in high school at West Geauga. Here at Mentor there is so much communication throughout the whole program from Coach K down to the middle schools.

Q: What are your goals this season?
A: The ultimate goal is to win a state championship. We have to play hard every game and come out with Ws. I don’t play that much, but when I do I want to go as hard as I can.
Q: What does it mean to play “Mentor basketball”?
A: First thing that comes to mind is hard work. We are always out here giving 100 percent and playing for friends and teammates.
Q: What is your most memorable moment as a Cardinal?
A: Making the team. It is an honor to be part of the Mentor basketball program.
Q: What Cardinal did you enjoy watching play or base your game after?
A: Jeff Forman. During the beginning of the year his senior year, he was good, but you really saw him escalate his game and help win the state title.
Q: What is something that people don’t know about you?
A: The middle of last year I got the nickname DiLo and it stuck. So now any time I hear that, I know it is for me.
