    Independence sweeps rival Heights

    INDEPENDENCE–The Independence volleyball team continued its winning ways on Thursday with a 3-0 sweep of rival Cuyahoga Heights.

    The Blue Devils, who opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of Kirtland on Tuesday, beat their rivals 25-9, 25-5, 25-8 and now have won 107 straight Chagrin Valley Conference Metro Division contests.

    Independence travels to Trinity on Tuesday.

    Kirtland knocks off Cardinal in first-place showdown

    Kirtland defeated visiting Cardinal 3-1 on Monday in a battle for first place in the Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division.
