    Marines sweep Air Force in 2023 Underclassmen Showcase

    EASTLAKE–The Marines All-Stars cruised to a 3-0 sweep of the Air Force All-Stars in the 2023 Ohio Varsity Underclassmen Showcase at North High School on Sunday.

    With the win, the Marines now hold a 2-1 advantage over the Air Force in the Underclassmen Showcase series.

    The Marines won the first set 25-15 then battled back from an early deficit to win the second, 25-23. They closed out the win with a 25-17 victory in the third set.

    South’s Maddie Luciano led the Marines with seven kills and four assists. Mentor’s Kayden McKinney pitched in with six kills. Madison’s Olivia Miller added four kills and two digs, West Geauga’s Shaylnn Rogaski finished with nine kills, Riverside’s Courtney Johnson added two kills and two digs, Hawken’s Emily Monachino finished with four kills and five assists, Crestwood’s Maddie Dustman posted two kills, Hawken’s Sancia Williams added three kills, and Kirtland’s Kristiana Katic contributed with two kills.

    Mentor’s Melody Garrett led the Air Force with eight kills and she also posted three digs. Berkshire’s Kate Miller finished with two kills, four assists, and three digs, and Marissa Rish added six assists and four digs. West Geauga’s Malory Lear posted five assists, North’s Morgan Petrecca added seven kills, and Kenston’s Avari Amstutz contributed with four kills and three digs.
