MANTUA—Macy McIntosh placed in three events as Kirtland opened the postseason with a strong showing at the Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division Track & Field Championships at Crestwood on Thursday.
McIntosh placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (28.64 seconds), second in the 400 (1:01.74), and she helped lead the 4×200-meter relay team to a third-place finish with a time of 1:54.96. Alyssa Bryll, Elin Conner, and Marissa Carmosino also ran in that event.
The Hornets had one athlete and two relay teams finish as the runners-up in their respective events.
Corinne Greenlee placed second in the pole vault with a top height of seven feet.
Bryll, Conner, Carmosino, and Elise Beinhardt placed second in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 54.53 seconds, and Ainsely Borthwick, Delaney Kuczkowski, Reilly Greenlee, and Sylvia Vosicky placed second in 10:41.48.
Vosicky was a top-eight finisher in three other events.
She placed fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:04.87 and seventh in the 800 in 2:43.05. She teamed up with Sophia DeMarco, Beinhardt, and Olivia Dolovacky to place fifth in the 4×400 with a time of 4:40.18.
Carmosino took home third place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.10 and the boys’ 4×200-meter relay team of Phillip LaVerde, Scotty Haymer, Warren Eveland, and William Sayle finished third in 1:34.54.
Sayle turned in a strong performance for the boys’ team as he placed in three other events. He finished fifth in the 400 (52.53) and the high jump (5-4), and sixth in the long jump (18-10).
Kirtland’s other scorers included Maria Alfieri (5th, 100 hurdles, 18.81), Brynn Bradac (5th, 3200, 15:30.20), Bryll (5th, 100, 13.95), Carmosino (8th, long jump, 13-10 ¼), Conner (7th, 100, 14.18), DeMarco (4th, pole vault, 6-0; 8th, 300 hurdles, 59.64), Dolovacky (5th, long jump, 14-4 ¼), Ava Golem (6th, 100 hurdles, 18.98), Corinne Greenlee (7th, high jump, 4-4), Chloe Hansen (6th, shot put, 28-8 ½; 6th, discus, 81-11), Haymer (8th, 100, 12.18), Kuczkowski (7th, 1600, 5:59.67), LaVerde (7th, 200, 24.18; 7th, 200, 24.18), Austin Leland (5th, 800, 2:13.78; 5th, 800, 2:13.78), Chloe Ungrady (discus, 8th, 72-6), and Brigham Weight (6th, pole vault, 9-6).
Kirtland’s boys’ team also placed in three relays.
LaVerde, Haymer, Eveland, and Will Bradshaw placed fourth in the 4×100 (47.55). Weight, Austin Booth, Leland, and Eveland were sixth in the 4×400 (4:05.85), and Drew Duncan, Weight, Leland, and Eveland placed sixth in the 4×800 (9:54.15).
