MENTOR—Moments before Madi Dutton threw the final pitch of the 2022 Ohio Varsity All-Star Classic, the NDCL standout added some hardware to her collection.

Dutton, who did it all for the Lions this spring, was named the 2022 Ohio Varsity Softball Player of the Year.

As a senior, she batted .604 with 17 runs batted in. She was just as dominant in the circle as she finished 9-2 with a 1.28 earned run average and 97 strikeouts.

Dutton earned the starting nod for the Peaches All-Stars in the OVASC, a throwback to the 1992 hit movie, “A League of Their Own.”

She then returned to the circle in the top of the seventh and shut down the Belles in order to seal her team’s 14-0 win.

Riverside’s Grace Fisher earned Ohio Varsity’s Pitcher of the Year award and Perry’s Madeline Infalvi was named the Ohio Varsity Freshman of the Year.
