North’s girls’ golf team ran its record to 7-0 with a pair of wins over Chardon and Edgewood this week.
The Rangers beat Chardon at Legend Lakes on Tuesday, 213-218, then knocked off Edgewood at Lost Nation on Wednesday, 217-235.
“It’s very nice,” North coach Chris Tombs said of the win streak. “All the girls did very well. They’re excited.”
Megan Luoma paced the Rangers with a 52 in the win over Edgewood. McKenna Naymick, Sarah Richter and Hailie Wilson each carded a 55 in the victory.
“They’re very excited,” Tombs said of the Rangers. After (the win over Chardon), that was a big one, after they got through that they were feeling pretty good about themselves. Today was just a nice day.”
Wilson shot a 49 against Chardon and Naymick finished up with a 51.
“Hailie Wilson has bene playing really well,” Tombs said. “She shot a 49 against Chardon and McKenna had a 51 and playing against the other two girls they played against they held their own.”
The Rangers will focus on their approach shots and work around the greens heading into a key clash with Western Reserve Conference rival Kenston next week.
“They’re hitting the ball really well off of the tee,” Tombs said. “We’re going to work on the short game a lot, but they definitely hit the ball well off the tee.”
