North wins a pair of dual meets at Lakewood

    - Advertisment -

North’s wrestling team continued to thrive in the New Year with a pair of dual meet victories at Lakewood on Thursday.

The Rangers defeated Cuyahoga Falls, 48-30, and then closed out the night with a 42-35 win over Lakewood.

“I was very pleased,” said North coach Jeremy Clarke. “We knew coming in we were going to have a battle. Obviously, Cuyahoga Falls and Lakewood are quality Division I teams and we just wanted to continue to get better, especially coming off our second-place finish at Columbia (last weekend). We’re starting to ramp things up and we’re starting the new year off strong and the kids have answered the call and we’re firing on all cylinders right now.”

Timmy Jesenovec (157) went 2-0 for the Rangers with two pins, Rion Dancy-Toma (144) was 2-0 with a major decision, and Dylan Preston (132) went 2-0 with one pin.

Shamus Brady (113) was 2-0 with a pin and a forfeit and Drake Martinez (138), Owen Sinek (190), and Cash Pemberton (215) each recorded a fall. P.J. Sinek (285) recorded a pair of forfeits.

Sinek’s pin sealed North’s win against Lakewood.

“We had some good matches,” Clarke said. “We had lots of quality wrestling now that we’re back at full strength, which is always nice. Hopefully, we can finish the next month and a half strong.”
