EASTLAKE—Sean Register, Jr. scored a game-high 33 points in North’s 85-60 nonconference win over visiting West Geauga on Saturday.

The Rangers used a 15-4 second-quarter run to pull away from the Wolverines and to lock up their third straight win.

“The message was to keep it simple,” said North head coach Clint Nicholson. “Stay consistent, stick with the game plan.”

Register, who was 14-of-16 from the floor, nearly posted a triple-double as he finished with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Nate Tadiello backed him with 18 points and six rebounds, and he was equally effective on defense, where he recorded four blocks.

“They lead us,” Nicholson said of Register and Tadiello. “They’re good friends off the court, which translates to on-court success.”

Anthony Belasic connected on three 3-pointers in the third quarter and ended the night with 11 points. Demoni Hunt finished as the fourth and final double-digit Ranger with 10 points and five assists.

On the second of back-to-back games, the Rangers were able to take care of business as they advanced to 4-1 overall on the year.

“The kids came out and played hard,” Nicholson said. “We started slow but at the end of the day we executed.”

Bryce Frasure added six points with four rebounds and Stevie Siekaniec pitched in four points and three assists for the Rangers’ cause.

Robert Weaver rounded out all scorers for North with three points and a pair of assists.

Despite an overall good performance from his squad, Nicholson still knows his team has a few things to adjust moving forward.

“The point of emphasis moving forward is don’t let zones make us play basketball differently,” he said. “If we stick to what we do we’ll be efficient.”

West Geauga dropped a second straight game in as many nights after opening the season 6-0.

Landon Lear led all Wolverines with 15 points and six rebounds. Colin Whiting followed up with 14 points while connecting on 5-of-7 attempts from the free throw line.

Andrew Marino added nine points with three triples and Carson Weisman contributed eight points.

North hosts Aurora on Dec. 28 while West Geauga will look to bounce back when the Wolverines host Madison on Dec. 27.
