    Twinsburg edges Mentor

    -

Threes were wild on May 18 for the game between Mentor and host Twinsburg.

For the Cardinals, the third time the Tigers put up three runs in an inning was not the charm as Twinsburg rallied late for a 9-8 win.

The Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the first, but Mentor answered with one in the second and three-run outbursts in the third and fourth innings. The 7-3 lead didn’t last as Twinsburg scored three runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth inning to roar back for the victory.

Nick Smith and Ricky Valeri each had two hits and two RBI for the Cardinals. Matt Eiswerth continued a strong spring with a hit, two RBI and three runs scored. Evan Posner and Tom Klepcyk each made an impact on the Mentor offense getting the spot start in the tune-up for the D-I district semifinals vs. North on May 20.
