    VASJ moves up to Division V for football

    The Ohio High School Athletic Association has released the new football division assignments for the 2015 and 2016 postseason.

    Villa Angela-St. Joseph will participate in Division V, up from Division VI where the Vikings qualified for the postseason the past two seasons.

    The football divisions are based on school enrollment data provided by the Ohio Department of Education for males grades 9 through 11 as of October 2014.

    The breakdown is as follows:

    • Division I: 72 schools with male enrollment of 627 and more; Division II: 107 schools with male enrollment of 423-626; Division III: 107 schools with male enrollment of 271-422; Division IV: 107 schools with male enrollment of 201-270; Division V: 108 schools with male enrollment of 150-200; Division VI: 107 schools with male enrollment of 107-149; Division VII: 106 schools with male enrollment of 106 and less.

    VASJ has a listed enrollment of 155 male students.
