    VASJ remains on a roll with big win in sectional semifinal

    The Villa Angela-St. Joseph girls basketball team ran its winning streak to 12 with a dominating performance in a 76-15 win over visiting Whitney Young in a Division IV sectional semifinal at Viking Village on Feb. 25.

    VASJ will host Fairport in a D-IV sectional title game on Feb. 28. The Skippers knocked off Newbury in a sectional semi.

    In the win over Whitney Young, the Vikings improved to 20-3 on the season and scored a season-high 76 points. Thirteen players scored for VASJ, led by Kasie Jordan with 11. Eight players for the Vikings had at least six points.

    VASJ led, 25-2, at the end of one quarter and 44-9 at halftime against Whitney Young.

    The Vikings have not lost a game since Jan. 10.
