Windham knocks VASJ out of girls basketball postseason tournament

    -

The 13-game winning streak for the Villa Angela-St. Joseph girls basketball team ended on March 4.

And with it, so did the Vikings' fantastic season.

VASJ rallied late, but lost to top seed Windham, 57-43, in a Division IV district semi in the Orwell Grand Valley District.

The Vikings had won 13 straight games before losing to the Bombers, a streak that had extended back to Jan. 10. VASJ finished the season at 21-4.

Angelina Goosby, Shannon Garvey and Mariah McGhee each scored 10 points for the Vikings in the loss.

VASJ rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to pull to within four points late in the fourth quarter before Windham pulled away for the victory.
